OOOO, I mean, BOOOOO and Howdy Doo friends! It is Halloween time folks, and that means full time pumpkins, cloudy skies, colorful leaves, scary skeletons and jumping ghosts! I love the cozy feeling this time of year brings and it also brings a sense of calmness and relaxation to me. However, I still get stressed. Yes, due dates, events, parties, chores, and still wanting to obtain enough sleep and have a fun filled fall, are all things that are here all year around. Now, these “stresses” don’t need to be the main focus of life though. I know even when I have parties and fun events to go to, I get stressed thinking, “Oh no, now I have to see if I have time for this and that and that and this”, and I don’t realize I’m thinking too much about something I need not too. Inside I know everything is going to work out okay, but for some reason my body doesn’t think so. That is why there are definitely ways that help me just feel good whether it be praying, watching movies (Captain America, I love you), or eating handfuls of chocolate chips, yummm. 🙂
This morning I was able to get my mind off of everything I have going on and focus on doing good and feeling good. This morning I helped volunteer with my friend for an hour or so. Volunteering to help other people out is a beautiful thing. You’re helping others, and making them feel good, while also making new friends in the people you’re helping and feeling good by knowing they feel good. I used the word good quite a bit there, but it’s true, helping is good. Helping others helps me feel good because I can know inside that I’m making their day better. I can also take my mind away from all the other things that need to be done or will be happening in the future that may be causes of a little stress.
By doing good, you can help yourself feel good, it’s a good thing. 🙂
Now, another thing that makes me feel good, is pumpkins! Golly, I love pumpkins, they are a great fashion accessory, hehe. I recently made the trip to a pumpkin picking patch with my father and picked out this one, which he bought for me. It’s a plump and happy looking pumpkin, I felt the need to hug it. Perhaps, pumpkin picking and pumpkin hugging could be a nice and new way to destress?
If you have a way of feeling calm in moments of stress that is lovely. Helping people helps me, as well as pumpkin hugging. The smallest helping hand from you can be the biggest helpful hand to someone else. 🙂
God loves when we help others, it makes him feel good and it makes us feel good. That is good! 🙂
Hebrews 6:10 NIV 10 God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them.
Good afternoon my friends and fellow pumpkin huggers. 🙂
